Schenectady, New York – April 28, 2014 – Auterra Inc., a clean energy company that is actively developing catalyst and process technology for the upgrading of heavy and sour crude oil and oil distillates, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Humberto Vainieri to its Board of Directors.

President of Vainieri Consulting, Dr. Vainieri brings more than thirty years’ oil sector experience to the Auterra Board, and has worked in R&D, plant operations, acquisitions & divestitures, and executive management roles in several of the oil sector’s most successful global companies. He has held posts such as Senior Vice President – Global Refining in BP, President & CEO of UOP, and Senior Vice President – R&D and Engineering in Yukos.
“I’ve been involved with the company for several years as an advisor. I’ve been impressed with their oxydesulfurization technology and commercialization progress. FlexDS is proving to be a viable alternative to hydrodesulfurization technology in the removal of sulfur and other impurities from a variety of heavy oil feed streams,” said Dr. Vainieri, “and the company has great potential in the oil & gas industry. I look forward to providing insights and advice where I can.”
In addition to his recent appointment to the Auterra Board, Dr. Vainieri currently serves on the boards of Rive Technology in Cambridge Massachusetts, Chemrec in Stockholm, Sweden as well as on the advisory boards of Maine Pointe, Hart Energy, and the University of Pittsburgh Engineering School. Dr. Vainieri holds B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and also an MBA from John Carroll University.
